About
Building Technology offers students the opportunity to explore critical topics for the future of the built environment and natural resources. Our program explores ways to use design and technology to create buildings that contribute to a more humane and environmentally responsible built world. Strategies employed toward these ends include integrated architectural design strategies, resource accounting through material flow analysis and life cycle assessment, building and urban energy modeling and simulation, human comfort analysis, control design and engineering, and other technologically-informed design methods.
Career
Graduates of the Building Technology program may go into business for themselves or may seek employment in the construction industry for rough and finish carpentry in new construction and remodelling, cabinet making, estimating, and building maintenance. Graduates of the Construction Management program may pursue entry-level management and supervisory positions in residential and commercial construction.
Job Prospects
Depending on which certificate option is chosen, graduates of the program will be expected to employ a combination of skills on the job; the fundamental skills include mathematics, writing, and communication skills, as well as teamwork.
Duties and tasks
Assisting in establishing and maintaining a preventative maintenance program
Contribute to tender preparations
Determine project costs and the approximate time it will take to complete
Liaise and negotiate with sub-contractors and other construction/building workers
Maintain up-to-date records of work orders, project progress and any modifications to the job specifications
Organize the supply of appropriate materials and equipment
Provide technical support to a range of professionals such as Builders, Engineers and Construction Managers
Read and follow blue prints and building plans to determine specific job requirementsUnderstand and follow codes of practice and building regulations
Remuneration
Building Technology Engineering is one of the highly rewarding field those employed in government departments get their initial income around Rs. 8000/- to Rs. 12000/- while superior can earn about Rs. 20000/. Consultancy in this field is also highly remunerative depending upon nature and number of clients.

Project Work
Candidates are required to submit a Referee / Project Report to complete the requirement of the Technician Membership Examination (TMIIE-DIPIIE-DMIIE).
A candidate of Technician Membership Examination (TMIIE-DIPIIE-DMIIE)can take up submission of his report only after he has obtained a pass in Part-I of TMIIE-DIPIIE-DMIIE Examination and only after he/she has appeared and obtained 40% marks in at least 5 subjects of Part-I of TMIIE-DIPIIE-DMIIE Examination.
Project Report / Referee Report
Each candidate appearing for Technician Membership Examination under the scheme of examination as approved by Govt. of India, is required to submit the Project Report in bound volumes.
Project Report detailed requirements and Project Report applications form is given in Institution website. The Project Report Application should be submitted with a fee.
Final Pass Certificate will be issued only after Project Report is approved. Candidate is also required to pay certification fee and submit experience certificate for minimum period of 3½ years on employers letterhead.
